For the city of Thessaloniki, Greece, a bikerack was designed as a playful yet functional urban object. Resembling a sliced Volkswagen Beetle, the bikerack was to be placed at random parking spots around the city to comment on the car focused mentality in contemporary Greek culture.

As a symbolic gesture, a special installation resembling a sliced Volkswagen Beetle is replacing a duplicate parked car that could be found along any sidewalk in the city center. The new bikerack can accommodate a large number of bicycles within the exact volume replica size. At the same time it is designed as a playful yet functional urban object.
