LoT was invited by Jura Tourism Office among 9 international architecture studios, offices selected for the 2014 Wallpaper* Architects Directory, to envision a new wilderness resort on the mountains of Jura in Switzerland.
We have collaborated with Berlin based KNOWSPACE on the design of a 60 sq.m. accommodation pavilion floating amongst the trees of the dense forest of Saignelégier. The introverted pavilion sleeps up to a group of 8 people along the structure of an elevated ring at a communal dormitory like setting. Access to the common areas, bathroom and kitchen, as well as to the entry climbing ladder, only happens through the middle courtyard whos area is covered with a flexible perforated net.
It is a playful living area, a massive lying mattress for gazing up to the sky and the tree tops, a unique way of experiencing the forest and outdoor living.
The participatory workshop was held on June 2015 supported and documented by Wallpaper* magazine, and photographer Valerie Baeriswyl.
