Architectural Pavilion

A temporary free-standing room without a roof open to the sky and the immediate surroundings offers a subtle confinement amidst the vast plaza in front of the Zappeion building. The pavilion is an autonomous object, a textural field of lines in space that define a clean geometry out of repetition of common structural elements. It becomes highly contextual as it relates to the facing building and its amalgamation of pure prismatic segments, volumes and voids that comprise the complex. One, strict and symmetric, inward facing vast and imposing is juxtaposed on the outside with a public playful structure, an architectural follie born off its history and values challenging its authority, crisp and energetic, inviting participation, interaction and exchange.
