For Design Miami 2018, LOT was commissioned by director Rodman Primack to create a unique gathering space for performance, talks and presentations.
An impromptu arrangement of soft geometric seats are moveable to adjust to the interest of the moment and highlight the event of ideas exchange. The non-hierarchical arrangement of seating invites to participate and contribute to debates. Sliding seats, rolling spheres and cherished speakers all contribute to populating what is all one stage.

The Design Talks Theater stars a number of actors of vastly different shapes and looks in similar roles. Sliding seats, rolling spheres and cherished speakers all contribute to populating what is all one stage. The theater’s layout is directed by purpose: A lecture or a starting debate attract an audience and their seats respectively, forming bubbles of interest around them. The room is non-directional, as each boundary replicates the image of what lies behind. A continuous arcade of amber mirrors reflects the rest of the room indefinitely, so speakers and listeners are multiplied and unwittingly involved in the spectacle.
The design talks venue is characterized by an amber-gold and warm atmosphere that invites you to join in an impromptu arrangement of soft geometric seats that are moveable to adjust to the interest of the moment. The theater has been designed to highlight the event of ideas exchange, the non-hierarchical arrangement of seating invites to participate and contribute to debates as well as listen in more closely if desired. The cushioned pieces in the room are supple renditions of geometric basics or combinations thereof: a curved and an arched bench, a rectangular pod, free-rolling spheres, a cylindrical lectern, and small quarter-circular grandstands.
